She went to Wits University, Phakamile studied International Relations from the institution.
Career
In 2009, she joined Radio Today, a community radio station. She was responsible for conceptualizing and producing a current affairs show, Talk Mzansi.
The host was Brooks Spector, a popular former diplomat, and expert in United States politics.
During the 2010 World Cup, Phakamile joined Kaya FM as a contributor.
She then worked as a reporter for Eyewitness News, then she landed on eNCA. There she became popular for covering stories including the Oscar Pistorius murder trial.
Her popular coverage also includes Marikana and the murder of Mozambican national, Mido Macia.
Recognitions
The government of Mozambique recognizes her for her reportage of the Mido Macia case.
Lately, Phakamile received an award from Joachim Chissano, ex-president of Mozambique for her contribution to telling this story.
