Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba has named interprovincial travel as a contributor to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the province.
The province has seen an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the second wave.
“We did anticipate that the interprovincial movement, as a result of the festive season. Limpopo is one of the tourism destination areas that most of our people would like to visit during this time of the year.
Secondly, we know most of our people in our province, are during the course of the year, in provinces like Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu Natal, for economic opportunities. So this is the time for them to come back home to spend time with their loved ones,” Dr Ramathuba said.
