Ferrari will unveil its first electric car in 2025

Ferrari is preparing to launch its first all-electric model in 2025, according to CEO John Elkann. During the company’s Annual General Meeting overnight, the Ferrari boss told shareholders “We are continuing to execute our electrification strategy in a highly disciplined way,” British publication Auto Express reports.

“We are also very excited about our first all-electric Ferrari that we plan to unveil in 2025, and you can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history,” Mr Elkann said.

A report in January 2021 had suggested the Prancing Horse would offer two battery-powered SUVs in 2024 and 2026, following a hybridised variant of the Ferrari Purosangue SUV – likely using a detuned powertrain from the SF90 Stradale. Delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic and semiconductor chip shortage may have pushed those plans out by a year.
Elkann also announced the Italian supercar company would be revealing three new models in the coming months.

It’s expected Ferrari will unveil its new V6-powered supercar with 522kW, as well as a ‘Versione Speciale’ of the 812 Superfast. But with the Purosangue due to be shown in 2022, it’s not clear at this stage what the third model will be.

However, in August 2020, rumours out of Maranello suggested the brand was preparing to show a secret one-off project, which pays homage to the iconic Ferrari F40 from the late 1980s.

“The new CEO and the senior management team will share Ferrari’s exciting future with you in 2022, which will also be a year of important new product launches and particularly the Purosangue which is turning out to be something truly special,” Mr Elkann added.
