Memorial service to be held for Lufuno Mavhunga

A memorial service will be held on Friday morning for Lufuno Mavhunga. She died in an apparent suicide after a video of her being assaulted went viral earlier this week.
The Limpopo school girl accused of assaulting her is expected to make her first appearance in court on Friday.

In the video, the suspect is seen repeatedly slapping Mavhunga.

According to preliminary findings by the South African Human Rights Commission, the school principal failed to take appropriate action when her family alerted him to the incident. A disciplinary hearing has been set for next week. Mavhunga will be buried on Saturday.
