Actress Kuli Roberts denies being affiliated with any political party

Media personality Kuli Roberts has refuted ever being affiliated with any political party.

The presenter, who made headlines last month ahead of the local government elections in joining Mzanele Manyi’s political party African Transformation Movement (ATM) has poured cold waters on the claims that she was contesting for councillor candidate in Tshwane’s ward 65.

The party leader took to social media to make the big announcement and said: “The one and only Kuli Roberts has joined the winning team. Servant Kuli has signed up to serve the people of South Africa. Servant Kuli is ATM councillor candidate for Ward 65 in Tshwane. We wish her well.”

But speaking to Clement Manyathela on 702, Kuli said although she had a degree in politics from UCT, she didn’t have any political interest, as politics were dangerous.

“It’s a bloodbath, I wouldn’t want to involve myself in that. I am not a member of ATM, all we were doing were talking about the safety in my area, because I am a single woman who lives alone.”

According to Kuli on the day, they were discussing issues around her area, and she donned an ATM T-shirt. Pictures were taken and next thing, she found herself on a poster, which was also shared by party leader Mzwanele on social media.

“I have lost my job because of the whole confusion. Mzanele accused me of being affiliated with his party,” said Kuli, who previously denied being shown the door by Sunday World after the alleged affiliation with ATM.

Kuli worked as lifestyle group editor for the publication and according to a source, was fired with immediate effect after making headlines.
