Early Life
Jon Kortajarena was born on 19 May 1985 in Bilbao, a large city in the province of Biscay in Spain. The 36-year-old is the son of Nuria Redruello Sánchez. Little is known of his father. His mother is a hairdresser and styled his hair as a child.
In September 2003, he went on a vacation in Barcelona and followed a friend to a fashion show. That month, he was discovered by a random booker who persuaded him to try doing fashion. Jon received the advice from the man and gave fashion a go.
He had his debut experience as a fashion model in a Madrid Fashion Week Show for Roberto Verino.
Education
Jon Kortajarena studied in ikastola school in his hometown. He had to leave school when he was 10 years because he traveled frequently. He registered in public, private, and Catholic schools.
Personal Life
Jon moved from his hometown in Bilbao to Paris to establish his career in the fashion industry. The highly-admired fashion model was romantically linked with the Welsh actress Luke Evans. The pair were together as lovers for two years.
When he is not at work, he loves to read books, sunbathe, watch movies, and climb mountains. He is currently single.
Career
In 2004, a teenager of 18 years Kortajarena became the face of Just Cavalli for Roberto Cavalli’s spring campaign. Jon had his first international fashion show at the fall Milan and Paris fashion weeks for Emporio Armani and John Galliano.
After two months, he was photographed for Verse by the popular American fashion photographer Steven Meisel. He has done many runways for many fashion brands like Bottega Veneta, Dolce & Gabbana, and Salvatore Ferragamo, among others.
He has also done television commercials for the sugar-free Fanta Z Mediterraneo. Kortajarena entered into a contract with Guess in 2007 and 2008.
He appeared on the cover of the spring /summer 2008 issue of L’0fficiel Hommes magazine.
Tom Ford was the director and photographer who handled Jon’s 2009 spring men’s wear and eyewear advertising campaigns.
German GQ named Kortajarena as Model of the year. He received the 2009 Best Spanish Model from Spain’s Marie Claire awards, Prix de la Moda.
Jon modeled alongside the British writer and model Alex Chung for Pepe Jeans during their fall/winter Campaign. He was featured in the Next autumn/winter campaign.
He did a television advert alongside the Brazilian model Emmanuela de Paula launched on 10 September.
Kortajarena was cast as Alex in the first episode of the series Tales from the Loop.
