It doesn’t rain but pours for one of the world’s most popular celebrities, Bill Cosby, who has been found guilty of yet another sexual assault charge.
This comes after media reports surfaced on Tuesday evening that the former television personality sexually assaulted a young girl, Judy Huth in 1975.
Huth was a 16-year-old at the time and the charges emanate from an alleged visit by the teenager to the Playboy Mansion in 1975.
Huth testified that the former comedian invited her and a friend before to the mansion and the then 37-year-old Cosby used force on the teen to perform a sex act.
A California jury in a civil case ruled on Tuesday that Cosby sexually assaulted Huth and she ordered the comedian to pay her $500 000 in damages for emotional distress from the incident.
Huth, now 64, expressed delight in her victory, saying it has been a long time coming for the embattled Cosby.
“It’s been so many years, so many tears. It’s been a long time coming,” Huth told reporters outside California Superior Court in Santa Monica.
Media reports that the verdict came nearly a year after Cosby was freed from prison when Pennsylvania’s highest court threw out his sexual assault conviction in a different criminal case there.
Huth’s lawsuit was the first civil case against Cosby to come to trial. However, Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt, who did not appear in person at the trial, denied the woman’s allegation.
He further commented that his defence team will appeal the verdict for his cline to enjoy a normal life onceS again.
“Mr. Cosby continues to maintain his innocence and will vigorously fight these false accusations so that he can get back to bringing the pursuit of happiness, joy, and laughter to the world,” Wyatt said in a statement.
Having made his name to millions for his portrayal of TV dad Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, the comedian has faced several accusations of sexual assault, misconduct, and rape stretching back to the mid-1960s.
