There seems to be a war brewing for new Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Dillan Solomons who has just joined the Soweto giants.
The former Swallows FC player was unveiled by Amakhosi on Monday but looking at one of the DStv Premiership side’s sentiments, they aim to throw a spanner in the works.
Royal AM, owned by Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize, plans to challenge the signing with CEO Sinky Mnisi indicating they also have a claim in the player’s signature.
The Naturena-based club announced that Solomons has joined the club on a four-year contract but it seems there will be a nasty fight behind the scenes.
Mnisi was interviewed by SABC sport radio host Andile Ncube and alleged that Chiefs didn’t follow the right process in luring the wing-back to Naturena.
“I think there will be a story unfolding involving Dillan Solomons, watch this space. Due processes will be followed. There are no fights, we are not in a boxing ring. All I said about Dillan Solomons is that we must allow the process to unfold,” Mnisi told Ncube.
However, Solomons agent Grant Nieuwenhuys of GN Sports insisted there’s nothing to be concerned about regarding the Amakhosi transfer.
“There’s nothing to take serious from our side, how can [you suggest] you signed the player when we’ve represented Dillan for seven years, we never got a call from them, this must have been a thing from club to club but we never sat with Royal AM,” Nieuwenhuys told iDiski Times.
“Chiefs did the right thing, followed the right protocol, I mean we got more calls from [Orlando] Pirates and never a call from Royal AM. So how can you sign a player you never spoke to? It’s not fair and we will protect Dillan because you disrupting his focus now.
“It’s the biggest move of his career thus far and now this is not fair, they need to fight the battles with whoever they dealt with but they definitely didn’t deal with GN Sports Agency who represents the boy.
“It’s not fair at all. I can confirm 200% they never contacted us, I don’t know who they spoke to at Swallows or whoever, but definitely not to us.”
Meanwhile, the Soweto giants have also released veteran right-back Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya while announcing the arrival of Yusuf Maart from Sekhukhune United on a three-year deal.
