MIXED REACTIONS ABOUT THE NEW MOVIE GLAMOUR GIRLS

The release of the movie Glamour Girls, which premiered on June 24 2022 has seen a lot of reactions from Nollywood lovers.
The movie premiered on Netflix on the said date after a brief announcement from the streaming platform. Since then, there has been a mix of opinions amongst viewers. Whilst some opined that the producer didn’t do justice to the classic, others think it was a perfect.

Glamour Girls was a classic movie from way back in 1994, produced by Kenneth Nnebue. The movie’s plot is about a young girl that wants a better life for herself and moves to Lagos where things are happening, where she picked up a questionable lifestyle.
The movie starred stars such as Liz Benson, Dolly Unachukwu, Ernest Obi, Pat Attah, Ngozi Ezeonu, Zack Orji, Eucharia Anunobi, and Sandra Achums.

The remake which was produced by Abimbola Craig for Play Network Studios production, starred new school stars such as Nse Ikpe-Etim, Sharon Ooja, Joselyn Dumas, Toke Makinwa, and Segilola Ogidan.

Although the movie steered away from the plot from the original 1994 movie, yet some viewers felt disappointed, and even suggested that the producer, Abimbola Craig, should hands off from producing movies. Apparently they think she did a bad job. Unlike other classic remakes such as Living in Bondage, Blood Sisters, etc which received warm welcomes, Glamour Girls didn’t perform up to expectation, according to some viewers.

Here are a few things some persons have to say about the movie on Twitter.

Well, other persons think the movie is not that bad after all

Nollywood is actually doing a great job with the movies, but in cases like this, where viewers think the plot or everything in a movie is wrong, then it is an insight for the producers to sit up and see how they can improve.
Feedback should never be seen as pull-down, instead, the producers should make proper adjustments for things to suit better.

The weight of any movie is rested on the plot, and so producers need to focus more on the storyline rather than the glamour and glitz. And too, characterization is very important, when characters lose touch with what they are supposed to portray in a movie, the movie goes awry and dry.

So, hopefully, in subsequent classic remakes, producers give their viewers a hit and blow their minds with impeccable storyline, characterisation and other important factors.
