Revered Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola has announced that she is leaving the SABC 1 drama series through an emotional post via Instagram.
The fitness fanatic dropped a bombshell to her scores of followers, and Entertainment SA has established that she will not be part of the production as of July 4, 2022.
Mmola played the character of Celia Magongwa and did not reveal her next destination but there’s no doubt that her fans will miss her smile and personality.
The veteran actress has been with the South African production for a decade but in her post, she suggested that she still be involved in filmmaking as a storyteller.
“As I bow out of SKEEM SAAM, I bow even lower to Everyone that has supported my work over the 28yrs of industry… And 10yrs of Skeem Saam……HERE: to telling more stories,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, the SABC has also confirmed the news that the 44-year-old will not be featured next Monday.
“Always keeping fans entertained, Mmola has portrayed the character Celia impeccably. She will be missed by fellow cast members, crew members, and viewers watching at home. We wish her well and all the best with her future ventures,” it said.
“Mmola will not be featured in the new season starting Monday 4th July 2022.”
Apart from her role in Skeem Saam, Mmola has been part of several productions including Gogo’s Groove and Aardklop Festival.
She has also worked with Ancient Stars at the Giant Theatre, and Space Odyssey at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda formerly known as Grahamstown.
