Rico Swavey, the late reality TV star, has been buried in Lagos in the presence of family and friends.
His burial rites began with a church service on Thursday morning at The Methodist Church of Trinity (Tinubu Square) in Lagos Island before his family accompanied his body to a funeral home.
His funeral took place at Ebony vault in Ikoyi, Lagos. It was a private event attended by family and friends.
Born Patrick Adebowale Fakoya, Rico Swavey was involved in a car crash which led to him being placed on life support. He died two days after the accident on October 13, 2022.
Twenty-nine-year-old Rico gained popularity when he participated in the 2018 edition of BBNaija.
The burial was attended by majorities of BBNaija stars like Alex Unusual, Uriel Oputa, Efe Money, Ifu Ennada, K Brule, BamBam, Dorathy and the BBNaija show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Tears flowed freely from the eyes of everyone who attended the funeral as they couldn’t hide their pain at his untimely death.
Before Rico’s passing, he had recorded a song he titled “This Life” and had intended for it to be released in December, as announced on his Instagram page.
Sadly, he passed away last Thursday, October 13, 2022, prior to the song’s debut.
An evening of tribute was held in his memory on Victoria Island on Wednesday, October 19, and the song was played at the event.
An emotional video serving the rounds online showed his bereaved mother dancing to the song at his night of tribute.
After his death, the Lagos government announced it has commenced an investigation into his death.
