BREAKING: Cassper Nyovest’s fight versus Priddy Ugly will be live on ESPN

After he was dropped by South African pay-tv channel SuperSport TV, Cassper Nyovest’s fight against Priddy Ugly is set to be aired on ESPN.

The latest developments have been confirmed by the country’s favourite musician, Nyovest, via a Twitter post and it will be televised this coming weekend.

Nyovest, Refiloe Phoolo, will battle it out against Priddy Ugly (Ricardo Moloi), in an eagerly anticipated celeb boxing match to be staged at Sun Bet Arena in Tshwane.

The North West-born musician, Cassper, recently tweeted the bad news as covered by Entertainment SA, that he lost a broadcasting agreement with SuperSport and this week he trained with DStv Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Good news & bad news. The bad news is that we lost SS as a partner so the fight isn’t showing on TV. The good news is that tickets are still available as web tickets. If you wanna see the fight you can come to see it live next week Saturday,” he tweeted as previously reported by ESA.

However, his latest social media post indicates that he has indeed reached an agreement with another sports broadcaster, ESPN.

It is reported that the Randburg-based station, SuperSport, had pulled out of the sponsorship deal and the two parties agreed Nyovest had to have a rematch with Naakmusiq (Anga Makubalo), but this never happened.

Cassper took to social media on Thursday morning to announce that the boxing match will now be streamed live on ESPN Africa channel 218 on DStv.

The second edition of Celeb City will feature professional boxing matches between Akani Sambo and Layten Gloss. At stake is the Gauteng bantamweight title.

Eastern Cape-born Asemahle Wellem and Gauteng-born Cowin Ray will exchange punches for the SA super middleweight title, while Simphiwe Koncko and Philippine-born Garen Diagan will clash for the international mini-flyweight title.

Meanwhile, the final bout will pit Bukiwe Nonina against Zimbabwean Cecilia Pitsani in the junior lightweight division.

Celeb City will take place at the Sun Bet Arena from September 30 to October 2 and promises to be an exhilarating weekend experience filled with music.
