SAFETY TIPS FOR SUMMER SEASON

With the COVID restrictions eased, we can all say we will have a summer that we haven’t experienced in almost three years. The warmer seasons are here, and with COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed, it’s most likely that you will be going to some sort of groove over the weekends. Here’s some safety tips to follow,

Stay with the people you came with

Keep your group together and avoid straying off by yourself when traveling around a festival or event. This may occasionally be challenging, especially during crowded gatherings. Choose a location on the grounds that is simple to find, where you and your friends can gather if you become separated while at the event. This will be much easier than trying to get hold of one another on phones with failing signal and a dying battery.

Be Responsible

Having fun and being carefree are perfectly acceptable, especially around the holidays. However, this does not imply that you should act carelessly. If you do drink, know your limit so you don’t compromise your health or wellbeing. Don’t accept drinks from strangers or leave your drink unattended.  To prevent getting your drinks spiked, always remember to pour your own drinks.

Plan your day/night

It’s important to plan your travel plans for both to and from the event. Remember not to travel in a car with a driver who is drunk or under the influence of drugs. Rather contact a trusted family member or friend or request a trip using an app like Uber. It’s essential that you carry cash so that you avoid being stranded.

When you’re having fun, maintaining communication with your family may be the last thing on your mind. However, it’s essential that you keep contact with them so that they’re aware of your arrival, your plans to move to another location, or if you’re going back home. If you’ll be gone for a longer period, make sure your phone is charged by taking along a power bank.

Know your surroundings

You’ll have less anxiety and worry if you’re aware of the safety, medical, and security stations, as well as emergency exits at the venue. Familiarise yourself with these stations the minute you get into the event.

Keep belongings safe

Crowded events are a hot spot for pickpockets and thieves. Keeping your possessions hidden is the best way to ensure its safety. To prevent losing anything valuable, try not to bring too much with you to gatherings.

The sun is shining, spring is here and there are plenty of magical memories to be made but it’s important to consider these safety tips to keep you and your group safe.
