Brazil’s Richarlison hailed as class, Neymar suffers ankle scare

While Brazil is still hailed for their five-star display against Serbia on Thursday night, the South Americans might be without superstar Neymar and who may be out of the clash against Switzerland.

Brazil thumped the Serbians via a 2-0 scoreline and the man of the moment was Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlisson.

Richarlison netted what could be the goal of the tournament as he showed his class with an acrobatic strike to open their FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but the entire football community is holding its breath for Neymar to bounce back.

The Paris St. Germain hitman suffered an ankle injury in the match against the Serb side and this means he might be unavailable on Monday but he will return to the lin-up against Cameroon on December 2.

Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar joined manager Tite in the post-match press conference and he confirmed that the former Barcelona striker, Neymar will have a scan on his ankle.

“Neymar had an injury on the right ankle, direct trauma,” said Lasmar.

“Due to the shock that he had with the knee of the Serbian player, we immediately started the treatment on the bench. He continued with the treatment with physiotherapy.

“We need 24-48 hours to have a better understanding through the MRI. Tomorrow we will have a new assessment. Now we need to wait, we cannot make any premature comments on his evolution. We need to wait.

“Neymar, he felt this pain throughout the game,” added Lasmar.

“But he decided to stay on the pitch to help the team. It’s remarkable that he could bear this pain while the team is playing.

“You can be sure that Neymar will play in the World Cup. He will play in the Cup.

“The most important thing for us is to have him at 100% for the next match,” said two-goal Brazil hero Richarlison, one of which was set up by Neymar. When I get to the hotel I’m going to go and see how he is doing.”
