The romance between Porshia Williams and Simon Guobadia had a contentious beginning because the businessman was already wed to the Bravo star’s “RHOA” co-star Falynn Pina when they first met.
In May 2021, two weeks into their relationship and only a few weeks after Pina, 32, said she and Simon had split up, the now-married pair got engaged.
Williams has consistently emphasized, however, that she did not interfere with the former couple’s marriage. At the time, she wrote on social media, “Falynn and I are not friends, and Simon’s divorce has been settled. Our relationship is a positive, loving step forward in everybody’s lives.”
Just one day after their traditional Nigerian wedding in Atlanta, Williams and Guobadia remarried on Saturday.
While the couple’s second wedding, which was also held in Georgia, was consistent with a standard American ceremony, the groom’s ethnicity required that the couple observe native Nigerian law and customs on Friday.
According to People, Williams, 41, walked down the aisle in a Methodist church while wearing a white lace Frida ballgown.
“I definitely want the Lord to be in the place. I want the Holy Spirit to usher us into being a husband and wife,” she told the outlet ahead of the ceremony.
“I’m from the south, so I love being in church. I’ve never been married in a church, and Simon’s never been married in a church, so it’s going to be a new experience for both of us.”
According to the publication, 350 guests were present to witness Williams and Guobadia, 57, say “I do.”
Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Monyetta Shaw, Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora, and Cynthia Bailey were among the “Housewives” in attendance.
“We call each other ‘hubby’ and ‘wifey’ all the time, but now it’s going to be official, so I think I’m going to cry,” Williams gushed to People. “Simon says he’s not going to cry, but he’s cried at home when we just talk about our relationship, so I think he’s going to cry. I think we have a silent bet.”
Williams previously stated that having many parties for the couple’s wedding day was always in the plans. The reality personality revealed on her radio show, “Dish Nation,” in May 2021, that they planned three weddings.
“He’s African, so we’re going to have a native law and custom ceremony, and a regular wedding, and then we’re going to have another wedding at one of the houses that is out of the country,” she explained.
The “Pursuit of Porsha” author jokingly told People on Friday, “It’s our last marriage, OK? We belong together. That is it. It’s a blessing to be able to find your person. It doesn’t happen often.”
From 2011 to 2013, Williams was married to Kordell Stewart, and their relationship was depicted in Season 1 of “RHOA.” She was previously married to Dennis McKinley, with whom she had a three-year-old daughter, Pilar.
