Trevor Noah makes fun of Elon Musk’s decision to charge for verified blue tick

While some chose to remain silent, Trevor chose to make fun of it.

The host of “The Daily Show” recently chastised Elon Musk for wanting to charge a fee for the famous Twitter blue tick.

The new rule was implemented following Musk’s official takeover of the social media application. Along with a number of other changes, Musk announced that those who want to own the verified blue tick will have to pay $8 (approximately R145) per month.

When Noah took the stage to mock the tech giant, he had his Atlanta audience and the rest of his online fans laughing.

Musk, he said, should “charge white people to say the N-word” if he wants to make money from Twitter.

“Can you Imagine if MLK (Martin Luther King) was out there like… ‘I have a dream, I have a dream, and I’ll tell you’ll about it for $8.99 a month’,” joked Noah.

“If you ask me, don’t charge people for blue check marks, no, charge white people to say the ‘N-word’, Twitter will be the most profitable company in history.

“Racists are going to be taking out loans… ‘I need a bit of extra cash, my neighbours are so goddamn loud, I could use this,” he joked as the audience erupted in laughter.

Many celebrities, including model Gigi Hadid, actress Whoopi Goldberg, singer Toni Braxton, and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes, have left the app since the takeover.

Noah’s followers and fans praised the comedian in the comments section for a well-stated joke.

However, there were a few who felt Noah had crossed the line.

Anyway, not everyone will like or understand your jokes; after all, we all have different senses of humour.
