Soccer returns to Africa on Boxing Day with live basketball and American football.
The top American sports will be shown live throughout the continent on ESPN (DStv 218, Starsat 248) and ESPN2 (DStv 219, Starsat 249) on Christmas Day, with extra goodies on Boxing Day.
On December 25, once the family festivities are over and the stomachs are full, NBA basketball begins with a live game between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers at 19:00 (CAT), followed by the Dallas Mavericks vs. the Los Angeles Lakers at 21:30. The action from the world’s best basketball league resumes at midnight, when the Boston Celtics face the Milwaukee Bucks. These basketball games will be broadcast on ESPN.
On ESPN2, American Football fans can watch the Miami Dolphins take on the Green Bay Packers at 20:00 and the Los Angeles Rams take on the Denver Broncos at 23:30. At 03:30 p.m., fans can watch the Arizona Cardinals take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (on 26 December).
After the World Cup concludes on Boxing Day, club football returns. Sunderland will face Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship at 14:30, followed by Cardiff City versus Queens Park Rangers at 19:15, with both games live on ESPN. Club Brugge will play OH Leuven, while Sporting Charleroi Royal Sporting Club (RSC) will play Anderlecht in Belgian Pro League matches that will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 14:30 and 21:45, respectively.
