Rihanna’s sudden desire to share her son’s face with the world might be for an unsettling purpose.
Rihanna not only released her first TikTok post on December 17, but also the first look at her seven-month-old kid with A$AP Rocky. In the adorable video, their kid can be seen grinning at the screen while attempting to “hack” his mother’s phone. The next Super Bowl halftime show singer also posted exclusive photographs of her child with the entertainment website Hollywood Unlocked on the same day.
Unfortunately, Rihanna allegedly posted these photographs to get ahead of the media, who were intending to steal her choice away from her. “She FaceTimed me yesterday to tell me that paparazzi had taken illegal images of their kid and planned to distribute them. “So she indicated she wanted me to put it out if anyone was going to put it out,” Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee tweeted on December 17.
In a second tweet, he continued, “She wanted BLACK MEDIA to be the one to do it since she wasn’t going to be given the choice. First, I’m honored they would trust me and kinda sad it had to be that way. I wish they were given the choice. Kids are off limits here at HU. I guess some folks don’t care.”
Many famous parents have fought to keep their children safe from the paparazzi. Sophie Turner and Gigi Hadid have recently begged photographers to stop photographing their young children. Blake Lively attacked Daily Mail Australia in July 2021 for publishing photos of her girls stolen by someone she claims “stalked” her family for a whole day in New York. A year later, Lively felt obligated to release a series of baby belly images on Instagram in order to get rid of the paparazzi waiting outside her house for a snapshot of the pregnant celeb.
For Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, privacy has reportedly become a top priority since welcoming their first child in May. “They’re keeping things low-key so they can enjoy their little family,” a source told Entertainment Tonight in August. “Privacy has become increasingly important to the couple. When it was just the two of them, they’d go out all hours of the day and night, and interact with fans. Now, with the baby, they’re a little more protective.”
The couple has yet to reveal the name of their kid to their admirers. The pair have yet to share their son’s name with their fans. “We just didn’t get around to it yet really,” she told The Washington Post, per Hypebae. “We’ve just been living. But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just, like, getting it out there.”
She should be permitted to do so on her own terms.
