Kaizer Chiefs’ Arthur Zwane vows to bounce back vs Sundowns

There’s no doubt that the clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns has just become a humdinger in recent times and the next one is no different.

The Brazilians are on the road this weekend en route to FNB Stadium where Amakhosi are currently playing their home games.

Looking at the past few results for the Soweto giants, Chiefs, they failed to collect maximum points in their last two DStv Premiership matches – losing to Sekhukhune United 1-0 and AmaZulu by 4-0.

On the contrary, the Tshwane-based defending league champions, Sundowns, are cruising and running away with the little – they bagged their 11th consecutive league win over SuperSport United on Monday evening.

While social media users feel coach Rulani Mokwena has the edge over his counterpart, Arthur Zwane, who has constantly come under fire for his tactics and team selection, ‘10111’ believes they can improve over the weekend.

“It was just a bad day in the office and we will regroup and come back as a better team,” Zwane said after the loss to AmaZulu.

“Overall, we didn’t play that badly. We knew they would sit back but we just didn’t capitalise on our opportunities.

“We must improve our final third entry decision making but it’s something we’ll keep working on until we get it right.”

The former Chiefs winger also lamented the fact they lack depth as some of his key players are sidelined through injuries.

To stop a free-scoring Sundowns who have already netted 17 goals in their last seven matches, Zwane will definitely need his tried and tested campaigners.

“We’ve been unfortunate in terms of the number of injuries this season. Cole, Khama (Billiat), and Nange started training this weekend,” Zwane told the club’s portal.

“We are still preparing players for the coming games. We have young players who are equally good and can grab the opportunity.

“We will put up the best available eleven players who will be able to go out there and represent the club.”

At some point this season we were in the relegation then Mangethe we united n fought till we reach position 4, we lost 6 points recently n we are still in position 4 surely we can still be strong as we did before, we survived 2 seasons without signing any new players.”

“I’m gonna watch Saturday’s match without any hope…..after what I’ve seen last week Friday is up for a tennis score whipping. I’ve never seen a team without structure, tactics, plan B, no attack, no passes, and lastly no hunger. Chiefs is now everyone’s stepping ladder.”’
