The Limpopo department of sport, arts, and culture commended reigning Miss South Africa Ndavi Nokeri on her exceptional performance in the 71st Miss Universe competition in New Orleans, United States.
“Although Miss South Africa did not win the 2023 Miss Universe pageant, she finished at the top 16, making South Africa, in particular, Limpopo proud of such a feat,” said Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Nakedi Kekana.
Kekana stated in a statement after Miss USA won Miss Universe 2023 on Sunday that Ndavi is South Africa’s pride and a brilliant ambassador.
“Reaching the top 16 of this world pageant is not a small achievement by any chance. You could see she held her head and the South African flag high on that stage, illustrated with not less than 87 beauties from across the globe,” said Kekana.
Ndavi, from Gavaza hamlet near Tzaneen in Limpopo, is the third Miss Limpopo to hold the Miss South Africa title in six years.
Immediately following her coronation as Miss South Africa, the Limpopo province welcomed her with a two-day massive event in Polokwane and at her rural home.
Former Miss Universe Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu was crowned her successor over the weekend.
R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States has been crowned Miss Universe. On Saturday, January 14, she was crowned during a ceremony in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The fashion designer was up against more than 80 other women from around the world for the prestigious honour.
She is the first Miss Universe to wear the Force for Good crown, which was designed by Lebanese jewellers Mouawad.
Mouawad congratulated the beauty queen with an Instagram post.
