Don Design pens a heart shuttering  Message to AKA

“I will try my level best to follow the path you have laid for us.”

Following his interment on Saturday, February 18, Don Design wrote a poignant tribute to his close buddy Kiernan Jarryd Forbes. Don Design was hit the hardest since social media did not sympathise with him and instead blamed him, and some still do, for AKA’s early death.

Don took to Instagram to write a nice note to a long-time friend and fellow entourage member, because they travelled together frequently.

Don stated that his heart is crushed and that it still feels weird for him to have to send such a message to Kiernan.

“My heart is shattered and the past couple of days have been nothing short of surreal. I am writing this with great difficulty, trying to put in words what you really meant to me. I would never have imagined that I would be putting together such a message. I keep thinking about all the moments we shared and replaying our memories together. I wish I had one last chance to thank you for showing me what the true meaning of brotherhood is. I am indebted to you for believing in me, believing in my dreams and aspirational visions, especially in moments where I lacked such belief,” he wrote.

“I’m in awe of all that you have accomplished in your lifetime. Your work ethic was unparalleled. You followed your path with honesty and integrity. I will try my level best to follow the path you have laid for us,” he added.

Don then sent out his love to AKA’s close family members, “To Uncle Tony, Aunty Lynne, Stef, Baby K, Nadia & Zinhle – with heartfelt sympathy, may the Lord heal your hearts and comfort your souls. Let prayer be your ray of hope. Prayer has the power to transform pain and to lift your spirits so that you may overcome this moment. I love you. Kiernan, you have left this world without me, but someday, in my heart of hearts, I believe we will meet again and be together again.”

DJ Zinhle also wrote AKA a note in which she promised him that she and her spouse Murdah Bongz would look after Kairo.

“Kiernan, I am so sorry that you have been robbed of your time with your daughter, with @nadianakai, Steffan, your mom @lynnforbesza , dad, and all of us. I would give anything for Kairo to have more time with you Kiernan. The thought of her asking questions breaks me. What do I do when she misses and needs you,” she wrote.

“Please watch over her and plead with The Almighty to guide Bongani @murdahbongz and me as we raise our daughter.”

“The last time I saw you, you told me how proud you are of us and how well we were co-parenting, we had come a long way, and even though it challenged a lot of people in how well we co-parented. It was never about society or us, it was always about our daughter and what was best for her.

“We quickly learnt that our differences would not be a burden for our daughter, our past mistakes could not deprive our daughter of a happy childhood with love from both mom and dad. I am so glad we figured it out, it’s as if we knew you would not be around long enough. Thank you for loving her the way you did.”

Zinhle is still in awe of her and AKA’s parenting abilities, claiming that they never did it for other people but did it for Kairo.

“We will continue to do what’s best for her, we will raise her in a loving environment that encourages forgiveness, one that is deeply rooted in the great spirit of being a family…over everything else. We are all responsible for her happiness now, my family and yours will pull together to make sure she is the happiest girl in the world…exactly how you always made her feel. Good night Kiernan. You told me God is in control, I will hold on to these words as we piece together the pieces of our shattered hearts. We will comfort and love Nadia, she is family now. God bless you,” wrote DJ Zinhle.
