The same top cop who got Uyinene Mrwetyana’s murderer imprisoned
According to reports, Police Minister Bheki Cele has picked an award-winning officer to handle the inquiry into Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ murder. This comes after AKA and his companion Tebello “Tibz” Montsoane were both shot dead outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban last week.
He later apologised for missing Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’ funeral last weekend. But, Police Minister Bheki Cele is working tirelessly to bring justice to the dead rapper and his former manager.
According to Zimoja Lezinto, Minister Bheki Cele has selected Brigadier Vela Cele, the same senior officer who apprehended Uyinene Mrwetyana’s murderer. Mrwetyana was a University of Cape Town student, and was raped and murdered by Luyanda Botha at Clareinch post office, Cape Town, back in 2019.
“Cellphone records, ballistic reports, videos, and statements are currently being collected in finding the killers of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Montsoane who were gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. The two were shot dead after an embrace and were ready to go their separate ways” wrote Zimoja Lezinto
According to the magazine, KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has acknowledged that they have interrogated a number of persons who were both there and not present on the day Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Montsoane were murdered.
CCTV evidence is still being shared on social media, and Twitter investigators have already drawn their conclusions about the murder. Don Design, AKA’s buddy, has come under criticism when it was discovered that he had an involvement in the murder of AKA and Tibz.
Nonetheless, the police investigations are still ongoing, and no arrests have been recorded as of yet.
“We are gathering all evidence, and thoroughly analysing the CCTV footage and videos in order to for us to have a solid case,” says Mkhwanazi.
Cele informed the media that they don’t go to murder scenes for cameras after not attending both AKA and Tibz’s funerals.
“We’re not much into cameras. There was no need to go to this one”. Bheki Cele, Minister of Police, stated
Minister Bheki Cele also said that he was in frequent communication with Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Brigadier Vela Cele. He also stated that he communicated with the Forbes family and that they were pleased with his work.
“I spoke at length with the family of AKA Tony Forbes. So why would I have to go to the crime scene? The family is very satisfied. I have beautiful messages from the family, which I won’t read” said Police Minister Bheki Cele.
