LeBron James  expected to miss at least two weeks on the court due to a foot injury

Depending on the Lakers’ prospects of making the playoffs, the four-time NBA champion might lose even more time.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff prospects may be jeopardised as LeBron James is expected to miss the next two weeks of action due to a foot ailment. The 38-year-old might be sidelined for a little longer, since his comeback is dependent on the Lakers’ prospects of making the playoffs.

The four-time NBA MVP was injured in the third quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday (Feb. 26).  King James stayed in the game, notching 26 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists to help his squad overcome a 27-point deficit for their biggest comeback victory in 21 years.

During the game, sources indicated that the four-time NBA champion may be out for an extended amount of time due to an injury, though it was unclear what the problem was. James had been battling with chronic foot problems all season, so this was thought to be a flare-up. Shams Charania of NBA Insider stated that he will be out for two to three weeks.

The Lakers’ star is out at an inconvenient moment, as they are presently the 12th seed in the Western Conference with 20 games remaining. The Lakers are only one game behind the 10th-seed New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in round, but they have struggled to win games without LBJ. They are 5 to 9 years old when LeBron isn’t on the court.

Luckily, Anthony Davis is back in the lineup after missing 24 games this season, but his 28-point, 19-rebound effort wasn’t enough to help the Lakers overcome the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night (Feb. 28).

The Lakers traded Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Thomas Bryant, Kendrick Nunn, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and Damian Jones for D’Angelo Russell, Jarrett Jack, Malik Beasley, Mo Bamba, Rui Hachimura, and Davon Reed before the trade deadline. The goal is that the additional playmaking, shooting, and defence can help them become a legitimate danger for postseason contention, if not a championship.
