Musician and television personality Bonginkosi ‘Zola 7’ Dlamini is on his way to redemption as he scooped a gig with the government.
Zola will form part of the department of sports, arts and culture as minister Zizi Kodwa has just roped him in as a creative sector ambassador.
Kodwa headed to Twitter to announce the news and said he is looking forward to work with the former Zola Seven presenter on SABC1.
“Bonginkosi Dlamini [Zola 7] is South Africa’s icon and one of our most talented stars. I met him in Polokwane — he welcomed an invitation to work with us as one of the creative sector ambassadors. I look forward to a great working relationship with Zola 7,” Kodwa tweeted.
Additionally, the new minister explained that the role of the hip-hop artist and poet is to elevate the music industry.
“Zola 7 is one of the undisputed icons from the creative industry, particularly in music. Part of what I expect of him is to give himself time to be with me and work with me around issues of the creative industry to see how best we can take our music industry to another level from where he started,” Kodwa told TshisaLIVE.
While he has also approached several musicians and artists in his department, Kodwa did not reveal the identity of some of the creatives.
@Andile Dlamini said:
“May everything you touch become gold !! God bless your journey minister.”
@Mrs Khathi commented:
“Off to a good start minister. You are so involved and thank you for restoring hope in our artist’s lives. Looking forward to many more positive things from you and your department. All the best mhlekazi.”
