Mihlali Ndamase revealed last month that she is embarking on an alcohol-free journey.
The influencer announced on her Instagram stories that she has gone 30 days without drinking alcohol and that she is now living the happiest and healthiest alcohol-free era. She went on to say that she hadn’t felt this good in a long time and that giving up booze was the finest decision she’d ever made.
The Malakyt owner responded to Twitter users who criticised her for hosting an event at Konka, finding it difficult to believe that the influencer could hold an event in a club without drinking alcohol.
“I shared something to encourage those who would like to take the same route as me, those with an unhealthy relationship with substances who felt like they can’t quit. It’s either you take something from my story or you ignore it if it doesn’t apply to you.
“People can have fun without being drunk. Please don’t make me regret opening up to you guys. I did it for a month without being policed and I can do it for another month and another. I know why I quit and what impact it’s had on my life. I don’t need discouraging remarks and yes, I am being sensitive about it because this is something that’s very close to my heart.”
Mihlali revealed one of the reasons she stopped drinking alcohol in a recent podcast interview hosted by L-Tido. She described how she would black out and pass out after drinking alcohol, and how she would be so inebriated that she couldn’t function.
Mihlali also clarified misunderstandings about her relationship with Leeroy Sidambe, including whether or not he was still married, and her friendship with fellow YouTuber Zola Joka.
She responded with, “Well, I mean because obviously he is not divorced, like, legally… But- Yes, it’s a long process (speaking on the divorce proceedings), and I mean, we’ve seen celebrities go through… We’ve seen people who are- have filed for divorce or whatever, who do move on with their lives or get into relationships or whatever. That’s the situation my partner and I are in…”
And went on to refuse to speak anything about her friendship with Zola Joka. “I’d rather not speak about it…”
