Im even hungrier: Novak Djokovic Warns His Wimbledon Rival And Eats Grass

It’s one week left before Wimbledon 2023 starts and everyone is gearing up to prepare for the event. Novak Djokovic is one of the favourites. The 2022 men’s champion is back at the courts of the All England Club where he won against Nick Kyrgios in the final.

Since his first victory in 2011, Djokovic has been known for one of his distinctive movements of eating grass every game. He took to social media to convey a message to his Wimbledon arrivals, posting a video of himself chewing grass with the caption, “Remember the taste and hungry for more #visualization @wimbledon.”

According to Tennis World, Djokovic has decided to take a few weeks off from the tournaments, to “recharge”.

The player has avoided to taking part in several important preparation events for the third Grand Slam, the Halle and Queen’s.

The 36-year-old will participate in Hurlingham’s exhibition tournament, the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic, where he will play against Frances Tiafoe on Thursday 29 June.

The 2022 champion will not be making direct debuted on grass at the All England Tennis Club. After his win last year, 2022, Djokovic said, “I have no words to explain what this tournament, this trophy means for me, for my team and for my family. I’ve said it many times. It has always been and always will be the most special tournament of my heart, the one that motivated me, inspired me to start playing tennis in a small mountain town in Serbia where my parents ran a restaurant.

“I was four or five years old and I saw Pete Sampras win his first Wimbledon in 1993. I asked dad and mom to buy me a racket and my first image of tennis was grass and Wimbledon. I’ve always dreamed of coming here, playing on this pitch and fulfilling my dream of winning this trophy. Each time it becomes more and more meaningful and special.”
