The Afronation Nigeria 2023 festival has been cancelled. In a press release issued on the 31st of October 2023, the organizing committee apologized saying it was not possible to deliver a show that is of the quality that Nigeria deserves.
The festival, which provides a platform for activists to connect with fans, mentioned international shows that they’ve curated so far adding that they are heartbroken to not get the opportunity to host the festival this year.
“We are heartbroken to not be able to celebrate with you this year. Please know that we 100% committed to celebrating an Afronation show in Lagos that we can all be proud of.”
“We know that you are just as disappointed as we are and to all who have purchased tickets, we love you and thank you for supporting us on this journey,’ the statement said.
The statement ended off with a promise to refund all purchased tickets and booking fees. The festival was expected to take place in Lagos, Nigeria this December.
One fan, @benji-min on Instagram, took to the comments section expressing disappointed he is by the news.
