Songbird Zahara laid to rest

At the funeral service for the late singer Zahara, also known as Bulelwa Mkutukana, TK Nciza paid a heartfelt tribute. The funeral, held at the East London International Convention Centre on Saturday, commemorated Zahara, who passed away on December 11th due to liver complications. Notably, Zahara was formerly signed to TS Records, owned by TK Nciza and DJ Sbu.

Despite facing online criticism for alleged mistreatment of the late star, TK Nciza addressed the gathering at the funeral. He shared poignant memories of his interactions with Zahara, recalling their initial meeting and conversations with her parents.

“She was very proud of her background and where she came from. And what it means is that you must take pride in where you come from as a person. She always said she comes from Phumlani, because she must inspire many people who are coming from that area and I think she has done that,” Nciza said.

“She was not just a musician to me, and I know that people always believe that it was always a transactional issue. She was my younger sister, she was my kid, we loved each other till the last day.”

Nciza dismissed the notion that their relationship was purely transactional, asserting that Zahara was more than just a musician – she was like a younger sister and a beloved individual. Their mutual love endured until Zahara’s last day, portraying a deeper connection beyond the professional relationship.
