Former Miss South Africa and model Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni has addressed rumours of her pregnancy, following a comment from a fan on one of her social media posts suggesting otherwise.
In a video addressing the speculation, Liesl urged people to respect women’s privacy and refrain from commenting on their reproductive status. She emphasized, “Leave my womb alone. Leave other women’s wombs alone,” highlighting the need to stop the trend of prematurely sharing personal information about others.
While acknowledging her weight gain, Liesl firmly stated that she is not pregnant and urged her followers to avoid making assumptions. She shared her frustration with individuals who engage in such behaviour, stating, “What you are not going to do is mess around and play around with my womb, my anatomy, and anything else that is already difficult enough as it is because of being a woman.”
Liesl emphasized that women should have the autonomy to share their pregnancy news when they are ready and called for an end to the culture of speculating about others’ personal lives.
The comments under her post also echoed Liesl’s point.
@drmusamthombeni said “Leave our womb alone !!!!! Pregnancy isn’t a group project.”
@bontle.modiselle said “And that’s that on that! I Hate that you’ve been pushed to this point but absolutely LOVE how firmly and clearly you’ve set these boundaries for yourself and ALL women. Thank you sis ”
@lisamadibe said “I’m so sorry you been going through this you are such a peaceful human. Leave women alone!!!!”
