After over two decades of dedication and broadcasting brilliance, Bruce Whitfield is bidding farewell to Primedia Broadcasting to embark on an exhilarating new adventure.
“I have cherished every moment on The Money Show and am honoured to have been part of listeners’ lives for more than twenty years. However, it’s time to dive into exciting new projects that demand my full attention,” Whitfield shared with a twinkle of excitement in his eye.
Bruce’s illustrious journey with Primedia Broadcasting began in the mid-1990s as an Eyewitness News Reporter. After polishing his journalistic skills as an editor in London and Johannesburg, he returned to Primedia in 2003, gracing the airwaves with a financial segment on the Afternoon Drive Show. This segment evolved into the beloved Money Show, captivating audiences on 702 and Cape Talk every weekday evening from 6pm to 8pm.

Bruce Whitfield is not slowing down one bit. He is already working on the biography of a rapidly globalising South African company in collaboration with GIBS Business Professor Dr. Adrian Saville. Come September 2024, he’ll be launching a groundbreaking podcast series, delving into an underserviced category that promises fresh insights for leaders and managers worldwide. Additionally, Bruce has crafted a portfolio of new keynotes: “The Age of Ambiguity,” designed to help leaders navigate complexity with better decisions, and “How to Thrive at the Edge of Chaos,” aimed at helping teams cut through the clutter and stay focused on strategy amidst a supercharged news agenda.
Bruce continues to be a regular contributor to the UK’s Business Leader magazine and produces The Financial Freedom Pod with Certified Financial Planner Warren Ingram, offering listeners practical steps towards financial freedom. “I will always be grateful to Primedia for giving me the opportunity to present The Money Show on Africa’s most influential talk radio stations,” says Whitfield, who has conducted around 50,000 interviews with a mix of business luminaries, global leaders, and a fair number of rogues and reprobates over the years.
The Money Show, under Bruce’s stewardship for over 20 years, has become the longest-running national radio program in the same time slot with the same host in South African broadcast history. “I am deeply indebted to the loyal listeners of the show who have always ensured that I stick to my promise of translating often dry and complicated financial and business concepts into everyday language. The time has come for me to focus on challenging new projects that will allow me to do what I love with greater focus and depth. I will never be more than one click away!”
