Usher to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at 2024 BET Awards

Usher Raymond, the acclaimed American singer, is experiencing a phenomenal 2024. After headlining the Super Bowl and celebrating his recent marriage, he is now set to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards.

The 45-year-old music icon will receive this prestigious accolade at the BET Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on June 30.

Connie Orlando, BET’s Executive Vice President of Specials, Music Programming, and Music Strategy, expressed her admiration for Usher’s enduring impact on the music industry. She stated, “The relationship between BET and Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards. From his chart-topping hits, electrifying performances, and unforgettable vocals to his signature moves and sound, Usher continues to stand on culture, setting new standards for the music industry and black excellence. We look forward to creating an amazing line-up to pay tribute to our global icon.”

Usher joins a distinguished list of previous Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, including Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Samuel L. Jackson, and Lionel Richie.

Celebrating this milestone, Usher shared his excitement with his 13.1 million Instagram followers, saying, “30 years of U and I…My Day 1s! Thank U @bet for honoring me with the Lifetime Achievement Award and a tribute performance ???? See U at the #BETAwards ????????”

Earlier this year, Usher delivered a memorable Super Bowl halftime performance in Las Vegas, which he described as one of the highlights of his illustrious career.

The 2024 BET Awards will be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on June 30, and will be broadcast in South Africa on Monday, July 1, 2024.
