Pearl Thusi comes to Miss SA’s pageant Chidimma Adetchina’s defense with all the Xenophobic attacks she has been facing. Pearl speaks on how she feels it’s problematic that just because Chidimma was born in South Africa and her parents are Nigerian then she isn’t South African. She adds on to say the model became a South African effective immediately when she was born in South Africa.
Xenophobia has always been a big factor in South Africa, if we recollect properly, we go back to the attack on foreign citizens in 19494 when the attacks initially started, and immigrants faced discrimination and violence in South Africa after we became a democratic country, and it has grown rapidly.
Even though Pearl does not have the most decent reputation she was trying to enlighten South Africans about how is Miss SA pageant finalist is part of the citizens of South Africa.
All of this because she is black, she is a female and it's a pageant? so those are the reasons she is being rejected? really?

South Africa has not yet fully understood that we can learn so much from each other, but also foreign citizens must understand that every country has rules of its own and everyone must try to get documented papers and adhere to the rules of the country.
Chidimma is a South African citizen as she was born and raised in South Africa and calls it her home because that is the only home she knowns.
