Rafa Nadal Retires His Racket

10 October 2024: The King-of Clay has finally called it a day after having captured 14 French Open Titles, 4 US Open Titles, two Wimbledon Titles and two Australian open titles in a stellar career.

The Spanish Tennis star has been ranked men’s world No. 1 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals for 209 weeks, and has finished as the year-end as the No. 1 ranked player on five occasions.

Nadal who has won 22 Grand Slam men’s singles titles amongst others, began his career when he won the Spanish junior championships in 1997 and 1998.

38 year old Nadal, posted an emotional video on social media on Thursday morning announcing his retirement. In the video, Nadal spoke of his incredible experiences and his long and remarkable career, which he described as “longer and more successful than I could ever have imagined.”

“Hello everyone. I’m here to let you know that I am retiring from professional tennis. “The reality is that it has been some difficult years, the last two especially. said a clearly emotional Nadal.

Nadal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest men’s tennis players of all time also announced that he will make his final appearance for Spain at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga this November.
