Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Takes the Grammy Stage by Storm

Kendrick Lamar just proved once again that he’s the king of the hip-hop world.

At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2, his track Not Like Us not only snagged the coveted Record of the Year but also swept up a handful of other awards, including Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video.

In his acceptance speech, Lamar dedicated the award to Los Angeles, saying, “This is my neck of the woods that’s held me down since I was a young pup.

Since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps, the records were like these.”

Not Like Us has been a major success, topping the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart for 21 consecutive weeks and debuting at number one on the Hot 100.

Widely seen as the definitive response in Lamar’s ongoing feud with Drake, the track cemented his dominance in the hip-hop scene.

Not Like Us also made history as the second hip-hop song to win Record of the Year, following Childish Gambino’s This Is America in 2019.

Instead of focusing on the milestone, Lamar chose to honour his hometown of Los Angeles, which had recently suffered from devastating wildfires.

“We’re gonna dedicate this one to the city,” he said.
