JHB Freshers Wasn’t as Fresh This Year

Things weren’t so fresh at this year’s JHB Freshers event at Carfax in Newtown.

An influx of people who weren’t ticketholders caused chaos outside the event premises and escalated to JMPD being involved sana. Streets saying the event was being hosted without a permit and attendees had to be chased out by the authorities. Money down the drain for people who bought tickets, in the same way a certain neighbour did people dirty.

Booking was apparently about R240, and the event did not even surpass two hours. A majority of people who attended the event took to socials to express their disappointment, but mostly because of the money lost. With most of the population being students, the money really could have gone elsewhere instead of an unexpected evening.

In a statement released by the organisers, they state that: “The situation raised public health and safety concerns and ultimately required intervention from the relevant authorities.”

Fortunately, if you bought your ticket on the Howler website, just request under the refund and special circumstances and explain your situation. The process will take about three to five days, and hopefully you will get your money back.
