The Canadian rapper and music producer Drake has infamously condemned a couple of high-level athletes by indicating his backing for them before major tournaments, he, however, has severed that streak as Adesanya proceeded with his UFC title domination, despite Drake betting on him. The rap superstar Drake’s rush of bad luck gambling on the UFC came to a stop after he gained a victorious $1 million bet on Israel Adesanya’s UFC middleweight title defense against Jared Cannonier.
Drake’s curse is broken! Rapper brings an end to his big-money gambling losing streak as he wins $1MILLION bet on reigning UFC champion Israel Adesanya beating Jared Cannonier
The multi-platinum recording musician has a renowned ‘Drake curse’ where fighters and other top athletes fail at important games after he indicates his support. And this misfortune has been especially bad for MMA fighters, standing with Conor McGregor before his combat against Floyd Mayweather as well as forfeiting several big money gambles this year.
But he was in a much safer area with Adesanya who was the odds-on choice in defending his fourth title. And the Nigerian owned the fight from beginning to the end as Cannonier lagged in taking benefit of his opportunity.
In a video circulating on social media, Adesanya could be observed on a Facetime call with the rapper before the fight. It was on this line that he was notified about the bet, with Drake again setting huge money on a UFC fight, even though this time he was supporting a dear one.
“Bro, I already know what time it is,” You could hear Drake explaining. “You know, I put a light million up.” When Adesanya balked at the number, he replied that it was “a light mil,”. “I had to put a light mil on my brother,” he added. “Return on investment is a lock.”
“I just want to wish you good luck,” he added later during the call. “You know I love you, brother. You’re different. You’re a different guy, bro. I have a deep, deep, deep love and respect for you. A deep love and respect.”
Over the past years, Drake has earned the status of being a habitual gambler as he’s publicized bets on numerous casino games and sporting events and budgeted some of the results with his social media proponents.
The Canadian musician’s scandalous “curse” expands to other sports as well, with many teasing that he was the cause of Manchester City’s Champions League loss to Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. They were at the brink of the first-ever Champions League final when a few players were spotted with the rapper, before failing in an ill-fated second leg days later.
Drake is one of the world’s most popular rappers and recently hit No.1 on the charts with his recent album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’. It was his 11th hit in America, in such manner, and has demonstrated to be famous with fans all around the world.
