The Rock ‘n’ Roll superstar, Tina Turner passed away at the age of 83 after extended illness at her home in Switzerland near Zurich.

In a statement shared to Sky News by the pop icon’s spokesperson , it read, “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll,’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” the statement read.

A statement was shared on her Instagram page read, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly. (© Peter Lindbergh)”

Tina Turner’s real identity

The musician was born Anna Mae Bullock and began her music career under the moniker Little Ann with Ike Tuner’s Kings of Rhythm for her first-ever record Box. It was in 1960 when she changed her name to Tina Turner for her hit duet A Fool in Love and the rest is all history.

Tina Turner obtained the Guinness title to her name after performing in front of the largest paying audience as a solo artist, selling 1,80,000 tickets in 1988 during her Break Every Rule album tour breaking Frank Sinatra’s world record.
