Imagine this: you’re about to leave the 2025 Forbes Woman Africa Leading Women Summit, and suddenly, your name is called. You’ve just won the Excellence in Entertainment Award, and your reaction is priceless—think Beyoncé at the Grammys when she found out she’d won Album of the Year.
That was the reality for Minenhle ‘Minnie’ Dlamini last night.
A prominent figure in South Africa’s entertainment industry, Minnie is an actress, executive producer, TV host, and entrepreneur who is passionate about telling African stories. She’s a woman who wears many hats, and her impact on the industry is undeniable.
With 15 years in the entertainment industry, Minnie has proven herself not only as a star on screen but as a creative entrepreneur. From dazzling audiences to establishing herself behind the scenes, she’s a powerhouse who continues to shape the entertainment landscape in South Africa and beyond.
Reflecting on her leadership journey, Minnie shared: “Being a leading woman means understanding that leadership isn’t about imposing greatness onto society but drawing out the greatness that already exists within people.” She continued, “That’s why I produce and do what I do—because I want to find, expand, and motivate the next generation of superstars.”
Though she didn’t expect the recognition, Minnie described the award moment as a “100% full-circle” experience. Accepting her prestigious award, she reflected on her humble beginnings: “It all started when I was a girl in university with just a dream, standing in a queue among thousands of people hoping to become a TV presenter. South Africa changed my life when I won that competition, but what I didn’t know was how much the world, and the entertainment industry, would change my life.”
In her acceptance speech, Minnie expressed deep gratitude: “I’m so grateful for the career I’ve had, but more than anything, I’m grateful for the opportunity to tell African stories as a producer.” She added, “Being able to find and nurture the next generation of talent is a privilege.”
As for her future, Minnie affirmed, “The dream doesn’t stop here. It doesn’t stop now.”
