Usimamane Walks His Own Path with Converse

Genre-defying artist and cultural trailblazer Usimamane is stepping into the global spotlight as the face of Converse’s bold new campaign, Love Chuck—a celebration of self-expression, creativity, and the enduring legacy of the Chuck Taylor sneaker.

Known for pushing boundaries and staying unapologetically true to himself, Usimamane is more than just a musical talent—he’s a voice of the youth and a symbol of fearless individuality. His collaboration with Converse marks a powerful alignment between an artist shaping local culture and a brand rooted in global creative movements.

On July 10, Usimamane was officially welcomed into the Converse family at a high-energy event hosted at YFM studios. Surrounded by friends and fellow creatives like Tony Dayimane, Qwellers, and Blaq Diamond, the evening celebrated not only the new partnership but also Usimamane’s recent achievements—including his Metro FM Award for Best Male Artist and a platinum-certified album.

The event, hosted by YFM’s DJ Sinaye, was a vibrant tribute to Usimamane’s journey, with exclusive performances and DJ sets capturing the spirit of Love Chuck—a campaign about honoring those who’ve made their mark by walking their own path.

“It feels surreal to collaborate with such an iconic brand,” said Usimamane. “Converse has been part of township culture for as long as I can remember—from pantsula dancers to today’s trendsetters. The Chuck Taylor represents creativity, resistance, and pride. This partnership mirrors everything I stand for.”

Tebogo Motlhamme, Marketing Manager at Converse South Africa, echoed the sentiment: “Usimamane embodies what Chuck Taylor stands for today. His energy, vision, and fearless authenticity make him the perfect face for Love Chuck.”

As the campaign rolls out across bold visuals, collaborations, and local activations, Usimamane leads a new generation in celebrating the shoe that continues to define culture—one step at a time.
